"C" Programming Language

Basics About “C”-Programming Language

“C”-Programming , a general purpose, procedural Computer Programming Language, that supports structured Programming and Recursion. It is an Imperative procedural Language. It had designed to be compile to provide low-level access to memory and language constructs that maps efficiently to machine instructions.

Developer of “C”-Programming Language

Dennis Ritchie, idolized by the Computer Programmers all over the world. Because he wrote about the most widely used Programming language in the world, without any doubt. After gaining Undergraduate and Graduate Degrees from Harvard, Ritchie went to work for Bell Laboratories in 1968. It was there, alongside Ken Thompson, that he created the UNIX Operating System.

At that time Bell uses “B” Language. Which was used to write UNIX. Building on this Operating system, Ritchie, in his own words, “added data types and new syntax to Thomson’s “B” Language. Thus producing the New Language “C”.

At the time Ritchie and Thompson had been working with their “B” language on PDP-7 Computer and, when Bell Labs acquired one of the new PDP-11s. They understandably wanted to switch over to more powerful machine. It was B’s inability to take advantage of the new features of the PDP-11 that led Ritchie to come up with early version of C. Which he used to write rewrite their UNIX Operating System, so that it could ported to the new Computer.

Purpose of “C”-Programming Language

The New Programming Language, designed to be used with the UNIX Operating System. It is a general purpose and, critically, written to allow it to be “ported”, or transferred from one Computer to another. C is the basic language write everything from the Operating System to Complex Programs like the Oracle database, Git, Python, Interpreter and More. “C” is the base for the Programming. If you know “C”, you can easily grasp the knowledge of other programming languages that Uses the concept “C”.

“C”, a powerful programming language. Which strongly associated with the UNIX Operating System. Even most of the UNIX Operating Systems coded in “C”. Initially “C” Programming, limited to the UNIX Operating System only. But as it is spreading around the World it became Commercial. And many Compilers released for cross-platform systems. Today “C” runs a variety of Operating Systems and Hardware Platforms.

Why to Learn “C” Programming

“C” is a base for many Programming Languages. So, learning “C” as the main Language will play an important Role while studying other Programming Languages”C” can be Widely used in various applications. It is a highly Portable Language, therefore Programs written in “C” Language can run on other Machines.
